Abstract:
Provided is a surface emitting laser that is easily manufactured and is capable of simultaneously achieving lower resistance and higher light emission efficiency. The present technology provides a surface emitting laser comprising a resonator that includes first and second reflection mirrors laminated on each other and an active layer disposed between the first and second reflection mirrors. A high-resistance region surrounding, in a plan view, a light emission region of the active layer is provided to at least the surface layer of the resonator on the second reflection mirror side. The high-resistance region has a wide part, in which a first portion provided to one part of the resonator in a lamination direction including the surface on the second reflection mirror side has a greater inner width in one in-plane direction than a second portion provided to the other part of the resonator in the lamination direction.
