Abstract:
Provided is a steer-by-wire control device and control method whereby comfort and safety can both be realized. Provided is a steer-by-wire control device 20 comprising a first motor 12 that controls a steering wheel 11 via a feedback actuator (FBA) and a second motor 13 that controls a steering angle of a vehicle wheel via a road-wheel actuator (RWA), the steer-by-wire control device 20 being capable of bi-directionally controlling the first motor 12 and the second motor 13. The steer-by-wire control device 20 also comprises: a base SAT 21 that determines a reference torque on the basis of a vehicle speed and an angle of the first motor; and a rack force estimating unit 22 that estimates a rack force as a counterforce on the basis of the RWA and the steering angle of the vehicle wheel. The steer-by-wire control device 20 has a first control mode in which the reference torque of the first motor 12 is controlled, and a second control mode in which the first motor 12 is controlled on the basis of the counterforce estimated by the rack force estimating unit 22. The steer-by-wire control device 20 switches between the first control mode and the second control mode on the basis of an output of the base SAT 21 and an output of the rack force estimating unit 22.
