Abstract:
This secondary battery comprises: a positive electrode; a negative electrode; a separator disposed between the positive and negative electrodes; and an electrolyte. The separator includes: a porous layer; and a coating layer disposed between the porous layer and the positive electrode. The coating layer contains a plurality of insulating particles having a long axis and a short axis, and the respective average aspect ratio of the plurality of insulating particles defined by the long axis and the short axis is 2 or greater. The plurality of insulating particles include a plurally of inclined particles, and the respective angle of inclination of the plurality of inclined particles defined by the surface of the porous layer and the long axis is at least 45° and no more than 135°. The positive electrode contains a plurality of positive electrode active material particles, and the percentage of the number of the plurality of inclined particles relative to the number of the plurality of insulating particles in a region between the respective centers of two adjacent positive electrode active material particles is at least 10%.
