Abstract:
The present invention relates to a negative electrode for a rechargeable lithium battery and a rechargeable lithium battery including same, the negative electrode comprising a current collector, a protective layer, and a layer of negative electrode active material, which is disposed between the current collector and the protective layer and contains the negative electrode active material, wherein the protective layer comprises a fiber comprising a core, which contains a metal that may form an alloy with lithium, and a shell, which surrounds the core and contains an electrically non-conductive polymer.
