Abstract:
A multi-pulse mode-locked laser, comprising a pulse generator and a pulse coherent superimposer (15), wherein the pulse generator is a linear or annular cavity mode-locked laser. When the pump current of a first pump laser (11) exceeds a mode-locking threshold current, the pulse generator generates a stable femtosecond pulse output, the pulse coherent superimposer (15) performs power amplification and phase delay on part of femtosecond pulses generated by the pulse generator and returns same again into a mode-locked cavity of the pulse generator, and the part of femtosecond pulses is filtered and reflected by a saturable absorber mirror (16) and then superimposed with the femtosecond pulses generated by the pulse generator, thereby finally forming a stable multi-pulse femtosecond laser output. A pulse coherent superimposer is inserted into a mode-locked laser cavity, such that repeated-frequency multiplication and a tunable phase are realized, the entire multi-pulse mode-locked laser has a compact structure and low output pulse noise, and the output power limit of a high-power femtosecond laser can be effectively increased.
