Abstract:
This method for producing reduced iron includes: a reduction step for generating reduced iron by reducing a raw material, which is iron oxide, with a reduction gas that includes hydrogen gas; a dehydration step for removing water from the exhaust gas of the reduction step to separate hydrogen gas from the exhaust gas; a cooling step for carbonizing the reduced iron while cooling the reduced iron with cooling gas that contains carbon as an element; and a separation step for separating hydrogen gas and methane gas from the exhaust gas of the cooling step. The cooling gas is methane gas. The reduction gas further includes hydrogen gas separated in the dehydration step, and hydrogen gas separated in the separation step. The cooling gas further includes the methane gas separated in the separation step.
