Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for producing a molded honeycomb structure, the method comprising a mixing step (S1) and a molding step (S2). In the mixing step (S1), a body paste is produced by mixing water with a cordierite-forming starting material that contains porous silica. In the molding step (S2), the body paste is molded into a honeycomb structure and dried, thereby producing a molded honeycomb structure. In the mixing step (S1), the amount W (wt%) of water to be added to 100 wt% of the cordierite-forming starting material is adjusted on the basis of the maximum water content Wa1 (wt%) adsorbable by the porous silica and the water content Wa2 (wt%) actually adsorbed on the porous silica.
