Abstract:
This method for producing a honeycomb structure molded body has a mixing step (S1) and a molding step (S2). The mixing step (S1) involves preparing a clay material by mixing porous silica which has a prescribed water absorption property, a cordierite starting material which is not said porous silica, and a liquid containing water. The molding step (S2) involves preparing a honeycomb structure molded body by molding the clay material into a honeycomb structure and drying the same. The water absorption property is the time A [hr] at which the rising value of the percentage of free moisture in the porous silica is 10 wt%. In the mixing step (S1), mixing is performed such that the amount of time t1-t0 from when the porous silica contacts the atmosphere (t0) until when the same contacts the liquid (t1) falls within the time A [hr].
