Abstract:
Provided is a method for producing a cation exchange resin, in which the metal impurity content of a cation exchange resin is reduced, and metal elution is minimal even when the cation exchange resin is used in refining an organic acid solution. This method for producing a cation exchange resin comprises: a first reproduction step for bringing a mineral acid solution that has a metal impurity content of 1 mg/L or lower and a concentration of 5 mass% or higher into contact with a cation exchange resin (A), thereby obtaining a cation exchange resin (B); a refining step for bringing an organic acid solution that has a metal impurity content of 2 mg/L or lower and a concentration of 3 mass% or higher into contact with the cation exchange resin (B), thereby refining the organic acid solution; and a second reproduction step for bringing a mineral acid solution that has a metal impurity content of 1 mg/L or lower and a concentration of 5 mass% or higher into contact with the cation exchange resin (B) after the refining step, thereby obtaining a cation exchange resin (C).
