Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a method for measuring speed that makes it possible to simply and easily measure the speed of a thrown object at any position without the need for special equipment. [Solution] A method for measuring the speed of a thrown object 20 on the basis of a throwing video taken from one side, the method being characterized to include: a step for determining a moving object detection area by selecting a movement location of the thrown object 20 within a prescribed range after being thrown, from the throwing video; a moving object detection step for identifying an object that moves linearly within the moving object detection area as the thrown object 20; a tracking step for detecting the trajectory of the thrown object 20 for each frame in the throwing video on the basis of the result of the moving object detection step; and a speed estimation step for calculating the speed of the thrown object 20 on the basis of the number of pixels in the throwing video, a known actual value in the throwing video, and the elapsed time.
