A foil bearing 20 has a plurality of foils 22 having a bearing surface S formed thereon. A downstream end portion of each of the foils 22 is provided with a thin portion 22g having a smaller thickness than in an area adjacent thereto on the upstream side, whereby the rigidity of this portion is reduced.
