Abstract:
A dry torque converter for an electric vehicle, and a control method therefor are disclosed. A dry torque converter for an electric vehicle, according to an embodiment of the present invention, comprises: a planetary gear connected to an input shaft by means of a first element, connected to an output shaft by means of a second element, and variably connected to a fixing part by means of a third element; a front cover integrally connected to the input shaft and the first element so that the planetary gear is embedded therein; one-way clutches which restricts the unidirectional connection of the third element and the fixing part and which are connected to each other; a back cover provided at the output shaft side so as to be coupled to the front cover; at least one eddy current torque generation part which is connected to the second element, which is controlled by means of the speed of the output shaft between the front cover and the back cover in an axial direction and which generates an eddy current; and a lock-up device radially provided around the inner peripheral surface of the front cover and the eddy current torque generation part, and which connects the second element and the front cover so as to directly connect the input shaft and the output shaft, while selectively coming in contact with the front cover by means of centrifugal force generated according to the rotational speed of the output shaft.
