Abstract:
Provided is a seismic motion detection/prediction system that is capable of more quickly and highly accurately detecting P-waves and is capable of predicting the strength of S-waves on the basis of the detected P-waves. A P-wave detection device in a seismic motion detection/prediction system according to the present invention includes a plurality of seismographs, a calculation unit which calculates a determination value for determining the detection of P-waves, a determination unit which determines, on the basis of the determination value, whether or not P-waves have been detected, and a communication unit which, when the determination unit has determined that the P-waves have been detected, externally transmits P-wave data to be used for predicting S-waves. An S-wave prediction device in the seismic motion detection/prediction system includes a communication unit which receives the P-wave data transmitted from the P-wave detection device and an S-wave prediction unit which predictions the strength of the coming S-waves on the basis of the P-wave data.
