Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a charging roller which inhibits detachment of particles from a surface layer, and wear and shaving of the particles, said detachment, wear, and shaving being caused by contact with another member such as a photosensitive body during use. This charging roller is provided with: a shaft 1; and an elastic layer 2 and a surface layer 3 which are sequentially formed on the outer circumference of the shaft 1. The surface layer 3 comprises a mixture of particles and a surface-layer resin composition. The tensile elongation at break of the surface-layer resin composition is at least 51%. The reaction force of the particles when compressed by 1 µm is 1.0-10.3 mN.
