Abstract:
A cathode assembly (100) comprises: a cathode block (10) made of carbon and having a groove (11) formed in the bottom; a metallic collector bar (20) disposed in the groove (11); and a support bar (30) disposed in the groove (11). The collector bar (20) has a first surface (20a), which is in contact with the bottom surface (10a) of the groove (11), and a second surface (20b), which is a surface on the reverse side from the first surface (20a). The support bar (30) has supporting surfaces (31a, 32a) which are surfaces in contact with the second surface (20b) and have a shape conforming to the second surface (20b). The second surface (20b) and the supporting surfaces (31a, 32a) are inclined so that, when the collector bar (20) expands in the width direction, the collector bar (20) moves upward in the height direction.
