PURPOSE: To ensure an easy and stable production of an ultrasonic wave probe, by filling the 1st insulated adhesive into the cut groove of a piezoelectric element group and at the same time forming the cut groove of the 1st acoustic matching layer with such a depth that does not reach down to the lower edge layer of the piezoelectric element group.

CONSTITUTION: A piezoelectric diaphragm of a plate form is fixed on a load material 2 and then cut with the prescribed width to obtain a slip-shaped piezoelectric element group 1. The 1st acoustic matching layer 7 is bonded on the group 1 with the 1st adhesive material 10, and at the same time the adhesive 10 is filled into cut grooves 3 formed among elements 1. Then the layer 7 is cut in accordance with the positions of the grooves 3. In this case, the cut groove 9 of the layer 7 is formed with such a depth that does not reach down to the lower edge of the group 1. Then the 2nd adhesive 11 is filled into the groove 9 over the layer 7, and at the same time the 2nd acoustic matching layer 8 is bonded with the adhesive 11. In this case, the layer 8 uses the same material as the adhesive 11.
