A display device according to one embodiment comprises: a communication unit; a display; a memory that stores one or more instructions; and at least one processor that executes one or more instructions, wherein the at least one processor may, by executing one or more instructions, acquire a first user image of a first user, cause the communication unit to transmit capability information of the display device to a server, receive, from the server, information about a configuration method of a group service determined on the basis of the capability information, acquire, on the basis of the received information, a first avatar image and a second avatar image corresponding to another display device user, and cause the display to display a group image including the first avatar image and the second avatar image.
