Abstract:
The present invention relates to a wet multi-plate clutch that can be used in car transmissions, etc. and the purpose is to achieve improvement of thermal characteristics (making temperature distribution more uniform). A clutch pack 50 comprises multiple drive plates 52 and multiple driven plates 54. Clutch facing 55 is fixed on one surface of the drive plates 52 and a circular groove 58 is formed over the entire perimeter of the opposite surface of the drive plate. Clutch facing 56 is fixed to one surface of the driven plates 54 and a circular groove 59 is formed over the entire perimeter of the opposite surface of the driven plate. During clutch engagement: the respective surfaces of the drive plates 52 and 54, in which the circular grooves 58 and 59 are formed, that slide with respect to the clutch facings 56 and 55 are clamped between adjacent clutch facings 55 and 56, making axial direction heat conduction discontinuous; clutch oil pools in the circular grooves 58 and 59 and heat conduction in the radial direction is made discontinuous in said areas; the concentration of frictional heat in the central section is prevented; and clutch plate temperature distribution is made more uniform.
