Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a vibration damping apparatus for a bearing, the apparatus providing high damping performance via a magnitude of damper rigidity at which a large load is not applied to peripheral components such as bearings. A vibration damping apparatus 1 for a bearing, the apparatus being provided with: an inner cylinder 4 capable of being displaced in a radial direction in relation to a device housing 3; a housing space 7 that is provided between the outer circumferential surface of the inner cylinder 4 and the inner circumferential surface of the device housing 3, and is filled with spherical particles 6 that generate a vibration control action through vibrational friction; and a pre-compression ring 13b that imparts a pre-load in an axial direction in relation to the spherical particles that fill the inside of the housing space 7, wherein when the rigidity of the bearing is denoted by Kb, the volume of the housing space is denoted by Vb, and the pre-load is denoted by Fp, a pre-load Fp that satisfies Fp<(Kb•Vb)/(1.6×104) is applied to the pre-compression ring 13b.
