Abstract:
In consideration of electric power consumption by the activation of an electric power steering system (26), differences are provided in the upper limits (determination values α and β) of a steering angle (X) at which free-run coasting travel and neutral coasting travel are terminated depending on whether a battery (24) can be charged. Thus, compared with when the coasting travels are uniformly terminated at a constant steering angle (X), fuel economy can be improved by extending the range of the steering angle (X) for implementing coasting travel while suppressing degradation of the battery (24), regardless of the electric power consumption by the activation of the electric power steering system (26).
