Provided is a vehicle speed control device with which the speed at which a centrifugal brake operates can easily be changed from the outside without disassembling the device. A brake drum (11) is affixed to a vehicle body (101a). A brake shoe (23) rotates centered on the rotary shaft (20) of a wheel (101c), and reduces the rotational speed of the wheel (101c) by making contact with the inner circumferential side surface of the brake drum (11). A spring (24) prevents contact between the brake drum (11) and the brake shoe (23) when the rotational speed of the wheel (101c) is equal to or less than a prescribed speed, and allows contact between the brake drum (11) and the brake shoe (23) when the rotational speed of the wheel (101c) exceeds the prescribed speed. A position changing mechanism (25) is arranged on the inside of the brake drum (11), and changes the position of the end part of one end of the spring (24). A transmission mechanism (26) transmits to the position changing mechanism (25) force that is input by means of an external operation, thus driving the position changing mechanism.
