Abstract:
This vehicle drive device is equipped with: a stepped transmission which has an input member, an output member, a rotary electric machine, a first engaging element and a second engaging element, and which forms a first gear and a second gear which is a higher gear than is the first gear; and a control unit for controlling the shifting of the stepped transmission. The control unit executes an off-downshift from the second gear to the first gear when the stepped transmission is in the second gear and the required drive force is positive torque which falls from a state equal to or greater than a set value (Ta) to below the set value (Ta).
