Abstract:
A vehicle control device which comprises: an engine (1); a torque converter (4); an automatic transmission (3); and a clutch mechanism (7) which is provided between a turbine runner (4t) of the torque converter and the automatic transmission (3), and which connects and disengages a power transmission path from the turbine runner (4t) to the automatic transmission (3) by controlling transmission torque capacity. The vehicle control device is capable of implementing energy conservation control which reduces vehicle energy consumption by automatically controlling at least one of an operating state of the engine (1) and an engaged state of the clutch mechanism (7), or the engaged state of the clutch mechanism (7). The vehicle control device comprises a clutch control means which, if the released clutch mechanism (7) is engaged during the implementation of energy conservation control, increases the transmission torque capacity of the clutch mechanism (7), with an increase in the number of turbine rotations (Nt) of the turbine runner (4t) as a control target value (steps S3-S6).
