Abstract:
An improvement in a valve for refrigerant equipment, such as an ir-conditioner, capable of preventing the leakage of a fluid when the valve is closed and minimizing the flow resistance of the fluid when the valve is opened. The valve is provided with a valve body (2) comprising a tubular member, and a switching valve (3). The valve body (2) is provided with a passage (21) in which a refrigerant flows, a tubular valve holding portion (4), and an auxiliary port for use in removing the air from the interior of a pipe of refrigerant equipment after the valve has been connected to the pipe. The flow passage (21) is provided with a first flow passage (22) and a second flow passage (23) linearly continuing from the first passage (22). The axis of the valve holding portion (4) extends at an angle of substantially 45° to that of the flow passage (21). The switching valve (3) is provided with a columnar spindle (31) constituting a valve disc and a valve seat (7). The spindle (31) has a closing portion (34) at a free end section thereof, and is held in the valve holding portion (4) so that the spindle can be axially moved, whereby the closing portion (34) moves into and retracts from the portion of the flow passage (21) which is between the first and second flow passage (22, 23). The valve seat (7) is formed on a projection (71) extending into the flow passage (21). When the closing portion (34) engages this valve seat (7) as a result of a moved spindle (31), the flow passage (21) is closed.
