This valve device comprises a valve, a drive device, and a speed change unit. The valve changes the flow mode of a refrigerant flowing within a circulation path of a refrigeration cycle device. The speed change unit comprises a drive side-rotating body, a magnetic transmission member, and a driven-side rotating body. The drive-side rotating body has a plurality of magnet poles in the direction of rotation thereof. The magnetic transmission member comprises a plurality of magnetic transmission bodies capable of being excited by a magnet pole. The driven-side rotating body has a plurality of magnet poles in the direction of rotation thereof. The driven-side rotating body rotates so as to follow rotating motion that is from the plurality of magnet poles of the drive-side rotating and that has passed through the magnetic transmission bodies. The number of magnet poles and the number of magnetic transmission bodies differ. Rotation is transmitted in a non-contact manner from the drive-side rotating body to the driven-side rotating body via the magnetic transmission member.
