A vacuum insulation material (1) according to the present invention includes a core material (2) and outer packaging materials (10) covering the core material, wherein: the insides of the outer packaging materials are in a reduced pressure state; the outer packaging materials each include a thermally fused layer (13); and the vacuum insulation material includes an encapsulation part (20) in at least a portion of an outer periphery thereof; the encapsulation part is a region where two sheets of the outer packaging materials overlap such that the thermally fused layers face each other, and outer packaging materials are thermally fused via the thermally fused layers; and when one of the two sheets of the outer packaging materials constituting the encapsulation part is defined as a first outer packaging material (21) and the other of the two sheets of the outer packaging materials constituting the encapsulation part is defined as a second outer packaging material (22), at least a portion of the surface of the first outer packaging material in the encapsulation part is formed by alternately arranging, in the long-side direction (Y) of the encapsulation part, concave portions (23) and convex portions (24) extending in the short-side direction (X) of the encapsulation part, and the surface of the first outer packaging material has a waveform shape which is more uneven than the surface of the second outer packaging material.
