A vacuum breaker with increased reliability, comprising a body part having water inlets (26, 41), water outlets (34, 48), water flow passages (30, 44) allowing these inlets and outlets to communicate with each other, first atmosphere inlets (36, 50) and second atmosphere inlets (37, 49) allowing the water flow passages to communicate with the atmosphere, first valve elements (28, 42), and second valve elements (32, 46) disposed on the downstream side of the first valve elements. The vacuum breaker is characterized in that the first valve elements are movable between a position for communicating the water inlets with the water flow passages between the first valve elements and the second valve elements when water is passed therethrough and a position for communicating the first atmosphere inlet with the water flow passages between the first valve elements and the second valve elements when water is not passed therethrough, and the second valve elements are movable between a position for communicating the water flow passages between the first valve elements and the second valve elements with the water outlets when water is passed therethrough and a position for communicating the second atmosphere inlets with the water outlets when water is not passed therethrough.
