Abstract:
The present invention relates to a tripod constant-velocity universal joint 1, 51 which is provided with: an outer joint member 2, 52 in which track grooves 6, 55 extending in an axial direction are formed at circumferentially trisected positions; a tripod member 3, 53 which comprises a trunnion body 8, 53a that is spline-fitted to a shaft 20, 59 so as to be capable of transmitting a torque, and trunnion journals 9, 57 that protrude radially from the circumferentially trisected positions of the trunnion body 8, 53a; and rollers 4, 54 that are mounted to the respective trunnion journals 9, 57. The rollers 4, 54 are accommodated in the track grooves 6, 55, and the rollers 4, 54 are guided by roller guide surfaces 7, 56 formed on both lateral walls of the track grooves 6, 55. The tripod member 3, 53 has quench-hardened layers H1, H2 formed through carburization, quenching, and tempering, and the quench-hardened layer H1 at the outer diameter surface 10, 57a of each of the trunnion journals 9, 57 has a depth D1 that is greater than a depth D2 of the hardened layer H2 at the base part 9a, 57b of each of the trunnion journals 9, 57.
