A travel working machine, wherein a hydromechanical transmission transmitting power from an engine to a traveling means after speed reduction by the combination of a hydraulic transmission mechanism having a hydraulic pump (27) and a hydraulic motor (28) with a planetary gear mechanism (30) is installed in a transmission case (8) mounted on a traveling frame (2) supported by traveling means such as wheels (3) and (4) and carrying the engine (5). A pump shaft (34) for inputting into the hydraulic pump, a motor shaft (35) for outputting from the hydraulic motor, and gears (43) and (45) for transmission fitted to these shafts are positioned above the oil level (S) of lubricating oil stored in the lower part of the transmission case to reduce power loss.
