Abstract:
An automatic transmission (1) has: a torque converter (2) having a support member (12); an input shaft (10) installed on the inner periphery of the support member (12); a seal ring (S1) sandwiched between the support member (12) and the input shaft (10); and a bush (125) sandwiched between the support member (12) and the input shaft (10), and installed nearer to a distal end (10a) of the input shaft (10) than the seal ring (S1). The input shaft (10) has a large-diameter part (102) in contact with the seal ring (S1), and a small-diameter part (101) positioned nearer to the distal end (10a) than the large-diameter part (102) and smaller in diameter than the large-diameter part (102). An inside diameter (r2) of the seal ring (S1) is greater than an outside diameter (r1) of the bush (125). An axial length (L3) of the small-diameter part (101) is set to be longer than the distance from an engagement starting point (b2) in the bush (125) to the seal ring (S1). Such a structure prevents damage to a seal ring when a torque converter is assembled on an input shaft.
