Abstract:
Provided is a torque converter with a structure that can be simplified. When the turning force of a motor is input to a pump (20), the turning force is transmitted to a turbine (30) via a fluid. When a rotary body (11) and the turbine (30) are disconnected from each other by a clutch device (50), the turning force of the motor (2) is amplified. Meanwhile, when the turning force is transmitted between the rotary body (11) and the turbine (30) via the clutch device (50), the torque converter can be locked up so that the turning force is output to the turbine (30) without having to be transmitted via the fluid. Since the pump (20) and the turbine (30) are built into a case (12) and the fluid is enclosed in the case (12), the structure can be simplified compared to conventional torque converters that are integrated with a transmission device.
