Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a tilting-pad-type journal bearing with which it is possible to improve the pad-cooling performance of lubricating oil and reduce the pad temperature. In this tilting-pad-type journal bearing, a tilting pad 2 has, in the end parts on both rotational-axis-direction sides of a sliding surface 2a facing a rotating shaft, recessed parts 16 that are formed so as to be stepped down from the sliding surface 2a toward the rotational-axis-direction downstream side, and so as to be stepped down from the sliding surface 2a from the rotational-axis-direction center part of the tilting pad 2 toward the rotational-axis-direction side end parts. Furthermore, the recessed parts 16 are opened so that the rotational-axis-direction-side-end-part sides of the tilting pad face toward the inside of a housing.
