Abstract:
A tilting pad journal bearing (1) comprises: a housing (7) having a rotor (2) inserted therein; and a plurality of pads (3) that can tilt and are disposed between the rotor (2) and the housing (7). The tilting pad journal bearing (1) also comprises two surfaces (4b, 5a) that are not mutually contacting and are present between an outer surface (3a) of the pad (3) and an inner surface (7b) of the housing (7). The two surfaces (4b, 5a) each have a single axis pivot (P1, P2) with mutually different orientations of an axis serving as a tilting center. Through this, a tilting pad journal bearing that easily suppresses unevenness in a bearing oil film in the axial direction and prevents the occurrence of thermal bending vibration while suppressing forces that destabilize whirling vibration of the rotor, and a rotary machine comprising the tilting pad journal bearing are provided.
