Abstract:

A thrust bearing segment which can increase the load capacity of a thrust bearing. A thrust pad (18) bears and supports a thrust collar (17), which is provided to a crankshaft (2), against a load which acts on the thrust collar (17) in the direction of the rotation axis of the crankshaft (2). The thrust pad (18) is provided with a recess formed in the circumferential direction, and the recess is formed in either the outer peripheral edge and/or the inner peripheral edge of the thrust pad, the outer peripheral edge having an outer peripheral surface facing the outside in the radial direction relative to the rotation axis, the inner peripheral edge having an inner peripheral surface facing the inside in the radial direction relative to the rotation axis.
