Abstract:
A surroundings monitoring device (30) configures an area of caution to the rear of an ego vehicle (40), causes the implementation of a collision suppression action when a detection device (21) has detected an object in the area of caution, said collision suppression action suppressing a collision with the object, and extends the area of caution further rearward of the ego vehicle when a trailer vehicle (50) is linked to a rear section of the ego vehicle than when a trailer vehicle is not linked to the same. The surroundings monitoring device comprises a turning information acquisition unit that, when the ego vehicle is turning while a trailer vehicle is linked to the rear section of the ego vehicle, acquires turning information regarding the ego vehicle and the trailer vehicle, and an area configuration unit that configures the area of caution on the basis of the turning information acquired by the turning information acquisition unit.
