Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a strain wave gearing device with which it is possible to suppress backlash during rotation transmission and to suppress a deterioration in motive force transmission efficiency, without reducing the magnitude of transmitted torque. [Solution] A strain wave gearing device 1 comprises: a wave generator which is caused to rotate; a cylindrical external gear 3 which is elastically deformed into an elliptical shape by being fitted onto the wave generator; and an inner gear which meshes with the external gear 3 on the long axis of the external gear 3 that has been elastically deformed into said elliptical shape. Furthermore, circumferential direction end portions 34 on both sides, in the external gear 3 circumferential direction, of engaging pieces 30 of the external gear 3 engage with engaging piece accommodating recesses 31 formed in each of a pair of radial direction ribs 26, 26 which are adjacent to one another, and when the external gear 3 is elastically deformed into the elliptical shape by the wave generator, the circumferential direction end portions 34 slide along engaging piece abutting walls 35 of the engaging piece accommodating recesses 31, preventing relative rotation between the external gear 3 and a fixed member 5.
