Abstract:
Provided are a steel material and a production method for the steel material. This steel material has a component composition containing, in mass%, 0.10-2.50% of C, 8.0-45.0% of Mn, 0.300% or less of P, 0.1000% or less of S, 0.10-5.00% of Ti, 0.001-5.000% of Al, 0.5000% or less of N, 0.1000% or less of O, and C, Ti, and Mn in amounts that satisfy 25([C] - 12.01[Ti]/47.87) + [Mn] ≥ 25 (where [C], [Ti], and [Mn] represent the contained amounts (mass%) of the respective elements), the balance being Fe and incidental impurities, and has a structure containing, in area percent, 90% or more of an austenitic phase, and 0.2% or more of Ti carbide. Such a structure is obtained by heating the steel material having the component composition at a temperature of 950°C or higher, and cooling the steel material to a temperature range of 900-500°C at a cooling rate of more than 1°C/s. As a result, the steel material acquires excellent abrasion resistance. Note that by adjusting the hardness of the austenitic phase to 200 HV or more, impact abrasion resistance is significantly improved.
