Abstract:
Even when a communication hole for separating condensed water (drain) from steam is clogged and the efficiency of the steam trap itself or a steam piping system is thus reduced, the present invention solves the clogging with a simple operation. A straight pipe small-diameter hole path (12) formed to be perpendicular to a valve shaft (3) and a straight pipe large-diameter hole path (13) formed to be perpendicular to the valve shaft (3) and having a phase different from that of the small-diameter hole path (12) are formed in a spherical valve body (10) disposed to be rotatable about the valve shaft (3) in a valve chamber (2). The present invention is configured to be switchable, according to the rotation position of the spherical valve body (10), between: a first mode in which one open end of the small-diameter hole path (12) is located on a primary side to communicate with the inside of a straight tubular passage; a second mode in which the other open end is located on the primary side to communicate with the inside of the straight tubular passage; and a third mode that corresponds to an intermediate position between the first rotation position and the second mode rotation position and communicates with the inside of the straight tubular passage through the large-diameter hole path (13).
