Abstract:
Provided is a sliding component that has high sealing quality during forward rotation, and has small torque during reverse rotation. A pair of sliding rings 10, 20 mutually rotate relative to each other, and an annular sliding component 10 defines a gap between a sealed fluid space S1 and a leakage space S2. The sliding component 10 has a dynamic pressure generation groove 13 that generates dynamic pressure. The dynamic pressure generation groove 13 comprises: an inclined groove 14 that is inclined and extends in a forward rotation direction from the leakage space S2 toward the sealed fluid space S1, and has a first dynamic pressure generation end portion 13C; and a reverse groove 15 that extends from the reverse rotation direction side of the inclined groove 14 in a reverse rotation direction, and has a second dynamic pressure generation end portion 13D.
