Abstract:
A shutoff device 21 wherein a CPU 40 successively calculates the temperature difference between the ambient temperature of an electrical wire 20 and the electrical wire temperature on the basis of current information indicating the current value of the current running through the electrical wire 20, and adds the ambient temperature of the electrical wire 20 to the calculated temperature difference. Thus, the CPU successively calculates the electrical wire temperature. When the electrical wire temperature calculated by the CPU 40 is equal to or greater than a threshold temperature value, an FET 30 turns off and the current running through the electrical wire 20 is shut off. When the calculated temperature difference is less than a reference temperature difference and the current value indicated by the current information is less than a reference current value, the CPU 40 temporarily stops the calculation of the electrical wire temperature.
