Abstract:
Provided are: a self-tapping screw with which a desired driving torque and a tightening breaking torque can be obtained, and with which idle rotation caused by damage to a female thread section can be prevented; and an attachment structure for the self-tapping screw. Thus, a plurality of screw threads (22) disposed on a shaft section (20) extending from a head section (11) is screwed into a pilot hole (33) in a board (32), and the self-tapping screw (10) is tightened while forming a female thread, thereby fastening a member being fastened (30) between the top of the board (32) and the bearing surface (13) of the head section (11). In particular, a distance (L2) from the bearing surface (13) to the initial point of the entire thread section forming the screw threads (22) is regarded as the distance at which the bearing surface (13) can be seated on the member being fastened (30) at a torque of at least 30% of the driving torque, which is the maximum torque when the initial point of the entire thread section forming the screw threads passes through the pilot hole (33) in the board (32).
