Abstract:
Provided are a sealing structure and a mounting method for a belt cover of an internal combustion engine, which ensure excellent sealability, and which provide excellent maintenance-related properties by causing detachment of only a necessary cover member and by minimizing detachment of surrounding piping, etc., when detaching the belt cover. The belt cover is provided with an inner cover member (3, CH) and an outer cover member on the two sides of a timing belt TB. The outer cover member is divided into upper and lower outer covers (7) and (8). Sealing with respect to the upper outer cover in a cylinder bore row direction is formed by a first seal member (31) housed in the joining surface of the inner cover member, and sealing with respect to the upper outer cover in a cylinder axis direction is formed by a second seal member (33) housed in the lower joining surface of the lower outer cover. A prescribed gap is formed between the inner cover member and another component (21), and a plurality of projections 34, 34 for locking the upper outer cover are provided in the lower joining surface of the lower outer cover.
