Abstract:
A safety cover construction which covers openably from the outside an operating portion such as a drive unit, a work unit and the like of an automatic machine (10) to ensure safety. The safety cover construction comprises a plurality of struts (12) disposed to surround a periphery of the automatic machine, a roof plate (16) supported by the struts to cover the top of the automatic machine, safety covers (14) provided vertically movably between adjacent struts, lengths of flexible wire (18) connected to the safety covers to suspend the same, sheaves (20, 22) which guide the wire from a strut side to a roof plate side, tension arms (24) horizontally and swingably supported by the roof plate and connecting thereto the wire, and compression springs (28) connected to the tension arms for biasing the same in a direction, in which the safety covers rise. Accordingly, even when the automatic machine is covered by the safety covers, the safety covers are opened to thereby enable widely opening the automatic machine over its entire periphery and automatically locking an opened state of the safety covers to ensure safety.
