Abstract:
A pair of rollers (15) incorporated within a pocket (31) is pressed by column sections (25, 29) by the relative rotation between a control retainer (16A) and a rotation retainer (16B) and is displaced to an unlocked position. A rotation prevention means (60) is provided between an outer ring (11) and the control retainer (16A) to prevent the control retainer (16A) from rotating relative to the outer ring (11) when the rollers (15) are engaged. Consequently, the rollers (15) are prevented from being displaced to the neutral position, and as a result, reliability is increased. The rotation prevention means (60) is formed by providing protrusions (61, 63), respectively, on surfaces facing each other the axial direction of both the outer ring (11) and the control retainer (16A). The protrusions (61, 63) are heat treated to increase the hardness thereof, preventing damage caused by impact during a collision.
