Provided is a rotary machine comprising: an axially extending rotor (2) having formed thereon a first thrust collar (35) and a second thrust collar (36), which protrude radially outward; a first thrust bearing device (31) for supporting an axial load acting through the first thrust collar (35); a second thrust bearing device (32) for supporting an axial load acting through the second thrust collar (36); and a load control device (16) for controlling loads acting on the first thrust bearing device (31) and/or the second thrust bearing device (32).
