Abstract:
A rotary actuator (10) used in a shift-by-wire system (11) of a vehicle is provided with a motor (30), an output shaft (40) disposed parallel to a rotating shaft (33) of the motor (30), and a deceleration mechanism (50) that decelerates the rotation of the motor (30) and transmits the rotation to the output shaft (40). The deceleration mechanism (50) includes a drive gear (53) provided over a rotational axis (AX1) of the rotating shaft (33), and a driven gear (54) that is provided over a rotational axis (AX3) of the output shaft (40) and that meshes with the drive gear (53). The driven gear (54) is a separate member from the output shaft (40) and is loosely fitted to the output shaft (40).
