Abstract:
Provided is a rolling bearing unit for supporting a vehicle wheel, wherein a dimensional increase in the axial dimension accompanying the installation of a power generator and a wireless communication apparatus can be suppressed to a minimum, sufficient power can be supplied to a sensor mounted on a vehicle wheel, and an output signal of the sensor can be wirelessly transmitted to a vehicle body-side electronic apparatus. A hub 17 has an inner recess section 29 on an inner diameter side of an inner section in the axial direction, the inner recess section 29 having, on the inner peripheral surface thereof, a cylindrical fitting surface section 30 which is coaxial with the central axis of the hub 17, and a hollow cylindrical support member 67 is supported and fixed inside the inner recess section 29 in a state in which a cylindrical guide surface section 70 provided on the outer peripheral surface of the support member is fitted into the fitting surface section 30. A rotor 61 serving as an armature is fixed to an axial inner section of the support member 67 to be coaxial with the support member 67, and a wireless communication apparatus 12 is disposed on the inside of the support member 67 in the radial direction. A through-hole 34, in which wiring 57 is disposed, is formed in the bottom surface 31 of the inner recess section 29.
