Abstract:
Provided are a polypeptide PEP1 for regulating plant root development, and an encoding gene OsPEP1 thereof. The treatment of a plant performed by using an exogenously applied PEP1 can inhibit plant root development. A transgenic plant having altered root growth and development can be obtained by transforming a plant by using a recombinant expression vector comprising the encoding gene or partial DNA of the gene. The polypeptide may serve as a plant growth regulator, and the encoding gene and a precursor protein thereof may be applied to crop improvement as potential molecular breeding targets, thereby improving crop yield by regulating the root growth and development of a crop.
