Abstract:
A segment for forming a divided retainer for a tapered roller bearing, wherein, in order to allow the bearing to be more easily mounted in an apparatus, the segment is prevented from separating during the mounting. A segment (27) for a tapered roller bearing is configured in such a manner that a required number of column sections (31) are provided between a small-diameter-side end side (28) which forms the small-diameter-side peripheral edge of a divided retainer (16) and a large-diameter-side end side (29) which forms the large-diameter-side peripheral edge of the divided retainer, and that pockets (32) are formed between the column sections (31). Out of the small-diameter-side end side (28) and the large-diameter-side end side (29), at least the large-diameter-side end side (29) is provided with a large-diameter-side engagement section (36). When mounting the bearing, the large-diameter-side engagement section (36) is engaged with a large-diameter engagement member (23) fitted and affixed to the inner ring of the bearing, and this prevents the segment (27) from separating.
