Abstract:
A reciprocating engine (1) having an annular top ring (5) as a first piston ring provided next to a top surface (head end surface)(4) of a piston (3) defining a combustion chamber (2), an annular second ring (6) as a second piston ring provided on the opposite side of the top surface (4) from the top ring (5), an annular gas chamber (7) defined by the top ring (5) and the second ring (6), and communication paths (8) for communicating the annular gas chamber (7) and the combustion chamber (2). The top ring (5) and the second ring (6) are individually inclined relative to the X-direction, in which the piston (3) reciprocates, so that they are separated from each other more on the thrust side (9) than on the anti-thrust side (10).
